Practice Manager: Mrs Karen Sloan
The practice manager, Mrs Karen Sloan has an in-depth knowledge of the workings of the practice and has lived in the Newport area for many years. Please feel free to approach her with any queries you may have about administration, registration or suggestions to improve the efficient running of the surgery. SHE IS HERE TO HELP.
The IT department has become extremely important to all practices in the country and the head of IT, Mrs Karen Sloan, and her team, carry out various tasks in order to ensure that the best services and information are available to patients.
Marian Hendy & Chris Plant and their team of receptionists have the unenviable task of running the surgery timetables and trying to fit dozens of requests for doctors’ appointments into a fairly tight schedule. If the doctor that you have requested is not available it may be that they are already heavily booked or may be away on an educational course or on holiday. The receptionist will do her utmost to make the next best alternative arrangement. They are there to help you – not to prevent you from seeing the doctor.
PLEASE REMEMBER THAT A SMILE COSTS NOTHING BUT MEANS EVERYTHING!
The secretaries are very rarely seen. They spend most of their days on the computer because the accuracy of their work and its presentation is essential for all communication between the hospitals and ourselves. Please note that all our staff are trained to keep all information about you strictly confidential.
We are fortunate to have our own team of health visitors and district nurses attached to the practice and they are always willing to help and advise. Please feel free to contact them directly on 01952 810229 (health visitors) and 01952 822830 (district nurses).
A community psychiatric nurse works at the practice once a week and is here to help patients with bereavement counselling, anxiety/stress problems and depressive illnesses. Sessions are by appointment only. A chiropodist visits the practice three times a month to cater for our patients’ needs. If you require the assistance of a chiropodist, please ask your doctor about this service.
