Doctors

DR STEFAN WALDENDORF

Partner - MB. DRCOG. MRCGP. (Germany) 1996

Qualified at Cologne University Hospital in 1996 and has been a partner since 2003. He has a special interest in teaching and has introduced the training of medical students at Linden Hall Surgery. We now train Registrars and Foundation year doctors and Dr Waldendorf is a trainer for these. He is the Clinical Director for the Newport & Central Primary Care Network (PCN) and also works as an Appraiser for other doctors. He takes a keen interest in photography and has four children.

DR ABIGAIL KINMOND

Partner - BmedSci (hons), BMBS (hons), DRCOG, MRCGP

Qualified from Nottingham in 2007. She returned home to Shropshire after completing her GP training in 2012, to be near relatives and have her family. And has been a Partner at Linden Hall since 2013. She has an interest in Womens Health and Diabetes Care. She is a GP trainer. She enjoys gardening, painting (when she has the chance), walking her spaniel and a single malt whisky by a roaring fire.

DR JONATHAN YIN

Partner - MBBS. MRCGP. (London) 2009

Qualified from St Barts and The London in 2009. He moved to Shropshire where he met his wife who is a nurse and who has since had 3 children. After Foundation training he trained as a surgeon before qualifying as a GP in 2016. Having been a Registrar and subsequent salaried doctor at Linden Hall Surgery he became a partner at the practice in 2017 where he also continues to do regular minor surgery. His hobbies include art and football.

DR THOMAS KWAN

Partner - MBChB MPhil MRCGP

Qualified from Keele University in 2015. Originally from Manchester, trained as a junior doctor and GP registrar in Shropshire, and am now a GP trainer. His main clinical interest is palliative care, for which he is the lead in the practice. He and his wife have two children who take up most of their love, time and energy, but outside of this, he loves to cook, eat, and then try to run/cycle off what he has cooked and eaten.

DR DENISE LEES

Salaried GP - MB. Ch.B. MRCGP. DRCOG. FPCert.

Born and attended school in Stoke on Trent, qualified in Manchester in 1987. Trained on the Northumbria GP training scheme and moved to Telford in 1991 initially as a partner at Charlton Medical Practice then as a salaried Gp at Linden Hall. Have 3 grown-up children. Enjoy swimming and relaxing next to a log fire with a book and glass of wine.

DR EMMA STRETTON

Salaried GP - MBBS, MRCP, MRCGP, DFSRH

Trained at St Bartholemews and The Royal London. Graduated 2001. Grew up locally and attended Newport schools. Returned to Newport in 2002 because quite simply, it was home. Happiest on top of a mountain ( or enjoying a well earned glass of wine in the pub at the bottom) and pottering on the water on the paddeboard or kayak.

DR CHARLOTTE ANDERSON

Salaried GP - MBChB MRCGP DRCOG

Originally from Derbyshire, Dr Anderson qualified from Keele University in 2016. Since then she has completed her post graduate training across Staffordshire and Shropshire before joining us as a salaried GP at Linden Hall Surgery in 2021. Dr Anderson also works in education teaching medical students at the University of Buckingham's campus in Crewe. Outside of work, Dr Anderson enjoys spending time with her family and their horses. She is wildlife mad and loves to travel seeing the animals of the world.

DR ALICE BEATTIE

Salaried GP - MBChB, BMedSc, MRCGP 2018, DRCOG

Dr Beattie qualified from the University of Birmingham in 2013 and then moved to London for postgraduate training. Completed GP training at Kings College Hospital in 2018 before working as a GP in Lambeth and then South Gloucestershire. She moved to Shropshire with her husband and joined Linden Hall Surgery in 2024. She has a special interest in Headache having previously worked for the National Migraine Centre and in the headache clinic at the Royal United Hospitals, Bath. Outside of work she enjoys travelling the world when she has the chance, or exploring the local countryside and hills when closer to home.

DR SHALISA WILLIAMS

Salaried GP

Qualified from the University of the West Indies, Jamaica 2017. Originally from the sunny island of Jamaica. Trained as a GP registrar in Shropshire and is happy to make Shopshire her home.

DR REBECCA HARDMAN

Salaried GP – MBChB (Hons), BmedSci (Hons),  MRCGP

Qualified from Birmingham in 2018. She stayed around the West Midlands area to complete post graduate training and made roots in the Shropshire countryside. When not in work she enjoys spending time with her young family, taking out an easel and paintbrush and attempting to train her (somewhat untrainable) dog. 

DR ZAIGHAM TARIQ

Salaried GP - MBBS, MRCGP

I moved to Shropshire to do my GP training in 2022 with my wife and trained as a GP registrar here. I really liked the Shropshire area and decided to stay here. When not working, I enjoy photography, puzzles, cooking and travelling.

Advanced Nurse Practitioner

Qualified in 1997 and has worked in general practice since. Enjoy hiking, travelling and spending time with her grandchildren.

Nurses

The following services are offered by the nursing team: Wound dressing and suture removal, family planning advice, cervical smear tests, childhood immunisations, foreign travel and routine immunisations, minor casualty service. Special clinics such as asthma, diabetes, COPD and coronary heart disease.

GP Assistant

The GP Assistants carry out a range of tasks that contribute to the care of patients including routine administrative tasks such as completing paperwork for the GP to approve and sign, preparing referrals, and managing correspondence from the hospitals and other care providers. They also carry out clinical duties such as blood tests, ECGs, urine dips and blood pressure checks. They also support the practice with other tasks as necessary to reduce GP workload and assist with patient care.

The practice manager has an in-depth knowledge of the workings of the practice and the Primary Care Network (PCN). Susie and her family have lived in Newport for many years. Please feel free to approach her with any queries you may have about administration, registration or suggestions to improve the efficient running of the surgery.

Reception Team

Anne and her team are the first contact for patients and are always keen to help. They will support you with any general enquires, registrations, the NHS app, help you to complete triage forms and book appointments for blood tests, ECG and Nurse reviews.

Triage Team

After you have submitted a triage request form and the Doctor has reviewed it a member of the triage team will contact you to offer you an appointment. If you miss their call, don't worry they will try you again.

Secretaries

Allison and her team of medical secretaries are responsible for managing referrals, medical records and providing administrative and secretarial support to clinicans and the wider team. Secretaries liaise with patients and external agencies on a daily basis; their role requires strong organisational skills, excellent communication and the ability to maintain confidentiality. 

First Contact Physiotherapist

Ben Lannie, our advance practice Physiotherapist can deal with most problems concerning muscles, joints or bones and pains, like arthritis, sprains or back pain. He can assess, provide advice and refer on if necessary.

Cancer Care Coordinator

Louise McMullen is our Cancer Care Coordinator and can help support you following your diagnosis. Louise has been working with us since November 2022 and she can offer help, advice, and signposting if further support is required. You can request a face-to-face appointment or a phone call. You can book direct through reception, or you can be referred by your GP. Appointments are for up to 45 minutes. Louise works for us every Thursday, 8.30am – 4.30pm.

Clinical Pharmacists

Phil Griffiths, Keely Tudor and Sophie Bowen will deal with many of your medication related questions. Phil is also trained to deal with minor ailments like water infections, tonsilitis or ear infections. He also manages some long term conditions like high blood pressure.

Mental Health Practitioner

Emma Smith is our Mental health Nurse practitioner and can deal with more complex mental health problems and will provide interventional treatments.

Paramedic Practitioners

Charlie Cambidge and Peter Atkinson are both very experienced paramedics and are helping us with home visits and support the duty doctor by dealing with minor ailments.

Social Prescriber

Our social prescriber Nikki West is based at Linden Hall Surgery. Social prescribing can support in many ways. This can be financial issues, housing, mental health support, wellbeing, feeling isolated, lonely, low motivation, low confidence, poor sleep patterns.
