Appointments

How does our Appointment system work?

We are a Total Triage Practice

This means that patients submit both clinical and administrative requests using an online form, by clicking the link above.

APPOINTMENT/MEDICAL REQUESTS are looked at on the same day by the Triage Doctor.

ADMINISTRATIVE REQUESTS will be read by a member of the Triage Administrative team within 2 working days.

When will I get an appointment?

Urgency is determined by the Doctor who looks at all incoming requests. You will be contacted by the admin team with an appointment as directed by the Doctor. PLEASE KEEP YOU PHONE TO HAND.

What happens if I miss a call from the Surgery?

If you miss a call, we will try you again (please dont call us back).  If we are unable to contact you we will send you a text message with instructions on what you need to do next.

Cancel an appointment

Cancelling or changing an appointment

To cancel your appointment:

  • use your NHS account (through the NHS website or NHS App)
  • using your patient access account
  • reply CANCEL to your appointment reminder text message (appointments can not be re-arranged via this message)

Home Visits

Home visits are only provided to our patients who are housebound.

Patients are requested, where possible, to submit the online form above before 11am if a home visit is required.

Please note that the clinician may telephone you rather than visit you if this is medically appropriate. Ultimately it is the doctors decision whether or not a visit is appropriate for a particular set of circumstances.

Extended Hours

This Practice operates as a Primary Care Network of GP Practices, working together to offer patients "extended access" to pre-bookable appointments in the evenings and at the weekends.

The pre-bookable appointments will be available as follows:

  • Wednesday evenings between 6.30pm and 8.00pm
  • Saturdays (at Muxton Surgery) between 9.00am and 5.00pm

To make an appointment, contact the surgery by using the online form.

If you need help with your appointment

 Please tell us:

  • If there is a specific Doctor, Nurse or other health professional you would prefer to respond
  • If you would prefer to consult with the doctor or nurse by phone, face-to-face, by video call or by text or email
  • If you need an interpreter
  • If you have any other access or communication needs
